Blackout Cinema & Gaming Room
3.7 × 5.9m, Perfectly Scaled
We transformed an underused 3.7m x 5.9m room into a fully immersive, blackout cinema and gaming space.
Three existing windows were carefully blocked, while a custom baffle wall was constructed to conceal former French doors and house the front speakers behind the screen. Designed for both performance and atmosphere, the room now delivers a true big-screen experience within a compact footprint.
Creating theatre with light
Beneath the starfield ceiling, a newly formed coffered ceiling introduces both structure and function, allowing discreet cable routing while integrating LED uplighting and downlights throughout.
Layered lighting works in harmony with the dark, acoustic finishes, adding warmth and contrast without distracting from the cinematic experience.
As the film begins, lighting transitions seamlessly to the chosen scene setting, from complete blackout for full immersion to softer, ambient tones for more relaxed use.
Surround Audio
A full 9.1.4 surround sound system, featuring Miller & Kreisel Sound speakers, delivers a deeply immersive audio experience.
Nine wall-mounted speakers, a dedicated subwoofer, and four ceiling-mounted Atmos speakers work together to place the viewer at the centre of the action, with sound moving precisely above and around the room.
Front speakers are positioned behind an acoustically transparent screen, integrated within a custom-built baffle wall, maintaining a clean, uninterrupted aesthetic while preserving exceptional audio performance.
All four walls are finished using Cinema Build Systems (CBS), wrapped in black wool fabric to enhance acoustic performance while maintaining a refined, minimal aesthetic.
Seamless streaming
A flush, wall-integrated screen sits seamlessly within this system, concealing the front speaker array and reinforcing the room’s clean architectural lines.
A Sony projector, paired with an Anthem processor, delivers exceptional clarity and contrast, even at close range, enabling a large-scale viewing experience within a compact space.
Careful consideration has been given to viewing angles and seating layout, ensuring comfort and immersion from every position.
Personalised scene-setting
Control is handled via a Control4 system, providing seamless management of lighting, audio, and content throughout the space.
Pre-configured lighting scenes allow the room to adapt instantly, whether for cinema viewing, gaming, or more relaxed use.
The result is a simple, intuitive experience, with complete control delivered through a single interface.
Immersive gaming
The space is equally optimised for gaming, with high-performance visuals and responsive, multi-dimensional audio placing you directly within the action.
